Advantage Academy

What is Advantage Academy?

Available to qualified Columbus and Chicago Public School students*, Advantage Academy enables students to take college courses — and actually earn an associate degree in Network Systems Administration — all while still in high school.

One of the fastest growing career segments, Network System Administrator (NSA) professionals set up and administer networks for virtually any type of company or organization. This program helps students get a jumpstart in this booming career field.

What are the benefits?

• Dual Enrollment: Students take college and high school courses at the same time. They will attend classes at the Chicago campus of DeVry University, 3300 N. Campbell Ave. (near Belmont and Western) or the Columbus campus, 1350 Alum Creek Dr.
• Accelerated Education: Students graduate with an associate of applied science degree in Network Systems Administration and with their high school diploma at the same time.
• No Cost for Eligible Courses: Tuition, books and technology charges are paid for by the Chicago/Columbus Board of Education for eligible courses.
• Professional Educators: Board-certified Public School teachers and DeVry University professors ensure a top-notch education.
• Personalized Support: From university services, library and lab access, tutoring, mentoring and more, students get the individual support they need. 
• Real-World Experience: A solid curriculum developed with industry input, so they’ve got the skills to hit the ground running.
• Continuous Learning: Students can choose to continue on to earn a bachelor’s degree in as little as one additional year.

Interested students must:

1. Attend an information session with a parent or guardian
2. Complete the Advantage Academy application form
3. Meet enrollment standards of DeVry University’s admissions test
4. Demonstrate completion of course prerequisites
5. Submit completed recommendation form

*This program is currently available only in Chicago and Columbus. But check back as there are plans to expand this program to other locations in the future.
